The rapper recalled receiving a private jet, luxury hotel accommodation and $50,000 in cash after joining Swift onstage during her Speak Now World Tour in Houston.
Nelly is sharing details about his surprise performances alongside Taylor Swift, revealing that the pop superstar paid him $50,000 for one of his early appearances while also arranging private transportation and luxury accommodation.
During a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, the rapper looked back on joining Swift onstage in Houston in 2011 during her Speak Now World Tour. He also discussed the hospitality and arrangements she provided for him and his family.
Although surprise guest appearances are often viewed as opportunities artists take part in without payment, Nelly explained that Swift offered him an appearance fee for the Houston performance.
Nelly said he had known Swift and her team for years before receiving an unexpected phone call from the singer.
According to the rapper, Swift explained that she and her friends had created a dance routine to his hit song “Hot in Herre” and asked whether he could travel to Houston for one of her upcoming concerts.
Nelly recalled that Swift was upfront about her budget, telling him she could arrange a private flight and hotel accommodation but had only $50,000 available for the appearance.
The rapper joked about the offer during the interview, recalling his response: “Can you put that in a McDonald’s bag?”
He also said he would have performed for free, explaining that the money was not his main motivation for accepting the invitation.
Swift reportedly arranged a private jet to transport Nelly and his children from St. Louis to Houston and back.
The rapper recalled that the singer was performing several nights at a baseball stadium, where thousands of fans had gathered for the concerts.
After the performance, Nelly said Swift’s manager, Robert Allen, handed him a McDonald’s bag containing $50,000 in cash.
He remembered being surprised by the payment, particularly because Swift had already arranged transportation and accommodation for his visit.
Nelly also described being provided with a presidential suite at the Four Seasons hotel, reportedly with access to the entire top floor.
However, the rapper said he and his family barely had time to enjoy the accommodation because they travelled directly from the concert back to the airport.
The Houston appearance in 2011 was not the only time Nelly joined Swift onstage.
The rapper later appeared during her Red Tour in 2013 and her 1989 World Tour in St. Louis in 2015.
The pair performed different songs during their collaborations, including Nelly’s “Just a Dream” in 2011, “Hey Porsche” in 2013 and “Hot in Herre” in 2015.
Their performances brought together two artists from different musical backgrounds, creating memorable moments for fans attending Swift’s concerts.
Nelly’s account offers a behind-the-scenes look at how Swift arranged her surprise guest appearances and treated the artists who joined her onstage.
